I didn’t know a damn thing about self-publishing. Fortunately, there’s this thing called the Internet and there are plenty of articles floating around out there. I also found several in the writing magazines and books I’ve accumulated through the years. I spent many hours reading up on the various self-publishing companies and I even attended a class at the UW-Milwaukee community outreach program.

I could go into all kinds of detail about what I learned, but I’d bore you to tears. I’ll cut to the chase and just tell you, in the end, I determined that Create Space was the way to go.

I'm not a patient person. For me, sitting around and waiting for things to happen is agonizing. Call it a curse. I call it undiagnosed A.D.D. I recently finished writing my first novel, "Spiders in the Sand" (the crowd goes wild, loud cheering and foot stomping). I dutifully read up on all of the steps I should take to get a publisher and thought, "Okay, this is do-able."

Most of the things I read said that I could submit my manuscript directly to a publisher, however, it involved query letters, a synopsis, references, a blood sample, the title to my house, and the willingness to sacrifice my

The Realm of Writing is a magical place. It is a land that many are drawn to, from need or necessity, whether they want to walk its roads or not. They’ve been sent on a quest to find those mystical words that will aid them in their daily lives and duties. For this land holds the promise of fantastic creation and in it the ability to transform simple prose into a lyrical masterpiece. They seek the ability to turn words into a binding spell that goes beyond merely informing their reader, but a tool that conveys power to evoke emotion and the desire to act.

For many, this is a daunting task.
